The beach has very clean sand and many rock formations that separate it from the textile beach of Zambujeira.

Further South, there is a small beach reachable only on low tide, attended exclusively by naturists.
You can reach this little and beautiful beach South of Alteirinhos if you go between the rocks on low tide, or over the cliff, where there are small paths that also lead to it. Here, you'll only find naturists. This is a favourite spot for couples in love, as it is cosy and private, with small caves and hide-outs among the rocks.
Comments of other naturists on Alteirinhos:
- The rocks are an exciting challenge to explore. Wild life and vegetation, not polluted at all, turn this place into a rare natural paradise. With luck, one can see schools of fish jumping out of the water and even dolphins, at times. - Miguel Rocha Gouveia.
- The tides change this coastline in depth and width, forming various little beaches sometimes hard to reach on high tide. This is a wonderful place for people with small children, as they can freely play in the small natural pools left by the low tide. - António Pardana Costa.
